Meet our new Communications & Content Executive

We recently welcomed Max as the newest member to our team as our Communications & Content Executive. Having just graduated from The University of Salford, Max brings fresh ideas, creativity, and enthusiasm to the role and we’re excited to see the impact he’ll make as he joins our fight to end homelessness in Greater Manchester.

To get to know him better, Max sat down with our CEO Fran, to talk more about why he’s excited to work for Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity and his hopes for the role.

What inspired you to apply for the role with Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity?

I moved to the region 3 years ago to study at The University of Salford and instantly made myself a home in Manchester. Now I want to give back to the people of the city I’ve grown to love. Seeing the impact of homelessness has really opened my eyes to the challenges so many people face, through no fault of their own. It’s something that’s hard to ignore when you live in the city every day.

What impact do you hope to make in your role at Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity?

The charity’s mission is to end homelessness and the need for rough sleeping in Greater Manchester, and I hope that through the content I create I can expand the reach of the charity’s work to support more people off the streets and out of housing instability.  Through sharing some of the incredible work that the charity does, and the organisations its supported are doing, as well as promoting our upcoming fundraisers, I know I can inspire businesses and the local community to join our stand to end homelessness.

This isn’t your first time in a marketing role, what were you doing previously?

My first ever marketing role was voluntarily creating social media content for a local food bank. I enjoyed getting to use my creativity whilst knowing my work was making a difference to someone in need. I continued to develop my skillset in my university studies and went on to be a student content creator for the university’s social media channels, documenting my life as a student to support new starters during their transition period.

How would you encourage others to get involved?

The best way to get involved is to engage. Take part in the charity’s events, share our posts with your network, and help us spread the message that homelessness has no place in Greater Manchester.
